 | THE ROOMS OF LUCHINO VISCONTI "The rooms of Luchino Visconti" is the name chosen for the rooms on the first floor of Villa Erba entirely dedicated to the director and his relationship with his mother’s villa on Lake Como.
A place frequented with such cheerful abandon in his childhood years in the company of his brothers and friends, where open air games alternated with reading and vivacious young theatrical presentations in the ground floor halls, where tennis, horses and bicycles slotted between the receptions organised at the villa, enriched by refined cultural events. This love for his lakeside home permeates the major works artist as an adult, in which we find the taste for the settings, decor, detail and beauty in which he lived at Villa Erba. It inspired unforgettable scenes such as the ball in "The Leopard", whose settings evoke the frescoed walls of the Ballroom, or the gloomy dock in "The Dammed" that recalls the stretch of water in front of the villa.
